CLOUD MASTER / The collection of Jin Shimakura’s works.
He is said to be the best artist of drawing the sky, and made a lot of works of the sky and clouds. Shimakura’s work of sunset had used in the end of “Maadadayo” produced by Akira Kurosawa, and this work led Shimakura to win the special prize of Japan Academy Association. The work of sunset is his true value.
You can see 38 works, include the first work “TREMENDOUS” and the view of New York, Los Angeles, and Japan, etc.

Profile
1940 Born in Niigata
Having an unusual talent of drawing pictures in his childhood, he was commended in Niigata Prefecture, and got Minister of Education Award.

1960 Began to make decorative arts. Many directors, such as Akira Kurosawa, Kihachi Okamoto, Jyuuzou Itami, Nobuhiko Oobayashi often liked to use the work of Shimakura. His works began to be used not only in movies and commercial films, but in interior Paintings in museums. Mass media paid attention to Shimakura himself, and he was invited to several TV shows and radio programs. “The sky, the clouds of Shimakura” were known to many people.

1992　Won the special prize of Japan Academy Association.

1993 “TREMENDOUS” released.

2005 Won “Lifetime Achievement Award of Movies”

2008 Won “Award of Seiichiro Kurabayashi (Scenic Art)”
