Le avventure di Pinocchio

Le avventure di Pinocchio, storia di un burattino è considerato tra i più grandi romanzi della letteratura universale per l'infanzia, ed è il capolavoro incontestato di quella italiana. Pubblicato a puntate a partire dal 7 Luglio del 1881 sul ``Giornale per i bambini'' di Ferdinando Martini, col semplice titolo Storia di un burattino e con le illustrazioni di un anonimo, apparve in volume nel 1883, presso l'editore Felice Paggi di Firenze, illustrato da Enrico Mazzanti. Il numero di edizioni, ristampe e traduzioni (oltre duecento, queste ultime, sparse in tutto il mondo) pubblicate dal 1883 a oggi è davvero incalcolabile.

Numerosissime sono state poi le trasposizioni teatrali, cinematografiche, fumettistiche. Il celebre disegnatore e umorista Jacovitti realizzò, in periodi diversi, ben tre versioni della storia, ciascuna caratterizzata da uno stile peculiare. Un’ulteriore versione di Pinocchio venne pubblicata dalla De Agostini di Novara nel 1948, secondo il modello delle tavole del Corriere dei Piccoli, con le illustrazioni di Sto (l'autore del Signor Bonaventura) e i versi di Grisostomo, uno pseudonimo sotto cui si celava l'illustre bibliografo Marino Parenti. Una riduzione a fumetti del popolare personaggio - ambientata nella surreale scenografia del golfo ligure del Tigullio (Rapallo) - è stata fatta negli anni ottanta dal cartoonist Luciano Bottaro.

Oltre alla celebre versione in cartoni animati prodotta dalla Walt Disney Co. nel 1940 (oggi inclusa nell'elenco delle opere filmiche da preservare), particolare successo ebbe la versione cinematografica fattane da Luigi Comencini nel 1971, che fu trasmessa a puntate sul principale canale televisivo italiano della RAI. Tra le trasposizioni celebri, l’ultima in ordine di tempo è costituita dal film che Roberto Benigni ha diretto nel 2002, interpretandone anche il personaggio protagonista.
Questa edizione contiene tutte le illustrazioni originali di Enrico Mazzanti.
