Shan Hai Jing “The Classic of Mountains and Seas” is a Chinese classic text that is at least 2,200 years old. It is largely a fabled geographical and cultural account of pre-Qin China as well as a collection of mythology. The book is about 31,000 words long, and is divided into eighteen sections; it describes over 550 mountains and 300 channels.
Nan Shan Jing “The Classic of Mountains: South” is the first chapter of “Shan Hai Jing”. It illustrates 40 different mountains in the southern part of ancient China and creatures live there. The real location of these mountains is probably today’s Fujian, Guangdong and Yunnan Province.
This App is an e-book version of “Shan Hai Jing”. It displays the images of unique creatures mentioned in Shan Hai Jing by motion illustrations and sounds. Readers can use different gestures to interact with these illustrations.
