Journey to the Center of the Earth (original title in French: Voyage au center de la Terre) is a novel by Jules Verne, published on 25 November 1864, the most imaginative and least scientific of his works, dealing with the issue a professor of mineralogy, his nephew and a guide to the inside air. The German professor Otto discovers a letter Lidenbrock Arne Saknussemm encryption (based on the figure of Arne Magnussen, a writer and collector of Norse sagas), a twelfth-century Icelandic scholar, who claims to have reached the center of the earth. The professor intends to follow the steps Lidenbrock Saknussemm and undertakes an expedition accompanied by his nephew Axel skeptical and impassive Icelandic guide Hans.

Viaje al centro de la Tierra (título original en francés: Voyage au centre de la Terre) es una novela de Jules Verne, publicada el 25 de noviembre de 1864, la más imaginativa y la menos científica de sus obras, que trata de la expedición de un profesor de mineralogía, su sobrino y un guía al interior del globo. El profesor alemán Otto Lidenbrock descubre un escrito cifrado de Arne Saknussemm (basado en la figura de Arne Magnussen, un escritor y recopilador de sagas nórdicas), un sabio islandés del siglo XII, quien afirma haber llegado al centro de la Tierra. El profesor Lidenbrock pretende seguir los pasos de Saknussemm y emprende una expedición acompañado por su escéptico sobrino Axel y el impasible guía islandés Hans.
