ABC Alphabet (241 3L words)

DialABC is for your Kindergartner to 2nd grader who is learning the relationship between the letters of the alphabet, the sounds they make and the formation of words. Also perfect starter for ESL students.

We decided to use strictly 3-letter words so that the focus was on the process of learning the alphabet and the sounds associated with the letters. It also made the interface simpler and therefore not in the way of the learning process.

Operating in one of three modes, your child can be:

1) automatically presented with pictures and the animated sounding out of the word with brief definition; or
2) presented with a picture for which the spelling is sought. With the correct spelling, the word is animated and sounded out as reinforcement; or
3) the child can just hunt for words in the dictionary and when found they will be presented with spelling and sound reinforcement.

This application takes a business like, mature approach to learning, but in a fun and interesting manner. The sounds are a male voice produced by a father of two.

FEATURES:

241 (out of 972 possible) English 3-letter words
image representing each word
vocalization of the spelling with animated play of letters
vocalization of the word and the meaning or context of use

3 modes:
1 - randomly or alphabetically play dictionary
2 - randomly or alphabetically spell out a presented picture
3 - search through dictionary looking for words

REQUIREMENTS:

Earphones on 1st generation iPod Touch in order to hear audio. New iPod Touch and iPhone have speakers.

Be aware this is a relatively large application as it has a lot of images and audio. Consider using a high speed connection as your optimum download choice (probably iTunes to your desktop) and then synching to your iPhone or Touch.

What's new

Added ability to alter difficulty level, in Spell mode, by adding option to pre-seed either vowels or consonants into the wheels prior to spelling a new word.

Reduced application size by 70% without significant effect on media quality.

Minor UI improvements.

Next version will add ability to look at image detail.
