pangaea
The pangaea app dynamically shows the breakup of the supercontinent Pangaea and the positions of the continents over the last 200 million years. Significant events are indicated by position (longitude) and time (millions of years ago). Several events have additional information available by touching an "info" button.
Flicking horizontally will rotate the globe. Flicking vertically will quickly move through time providing an animation of the movement of the continents through time for the selected longitude.
Longitude, Ma (millions of years ago), and geologic time period are continuously displayed.
The modern shapes of the continents are retained throughout time to help identify them.
EASY TO USE:
Intuitive touch interface allows you to select a longitude (in 30 degree increments) and select a time (in 5 Ma increments). Events with more information are clearly indicated with an "info" button. Flicking shows animated movement of the continents.
NOTES:
This is a large app (about 60 MBytes) and will take several minutes to download.
