Verbes Basic

Every French verb has 89 forms that a student of French has to learn. The best way to become expert at using the many forms of a verb in French is to drill yourself on them, over and over and over. Verbes Basic gives you the tool to do just that.

Verbes Basic is the "little brother" of Verbes. It does not have Verbes's testing capability and in Verbes Basic you can create and save only one verb list, where Verbes allows you an unlimited number of lists. Verbes Basic gives you the ability to drill yourself on French verb conjugations. For many people, that's the only way we'll learn those verb forms.

Verbes Basic allows you quickly drill yourself on French verbs. You tell Verbes Basic what tense or tenses you'd like to practice; Verbes Basic choses a verb randomly and displays the infinitive, the tense and the pronoun for a person/number (for example, third-person singular, or first-person plural). You can then say the answer, either to yourself or aloud. Touch the screen and the correct answer appears. Touch the screen again and a new verb/tense/pronoun appears.

- Verbes has every verb form for over 500 verbs, including those in Barron's 501 French Verbs. If you want certain verbs, email me and I'll add them to the database. "Basic" means that Verbes Basic doesn't have all the functionality of the full version, Verbes, but many users have told me they don't need or use features beyond what's contained in Verbes Basic. Verbes Basic isn't limited in the number of verbs; it uses the exact same database as Verbes.

- Select any tense or any combination of tenses. You can select one tense, all 13 tenses, or any number in between.

- Select any type of verb: regular verbs, irregular verbs, verbs that change spelling to maintain a sound, verbs that change their stem, or reflexive verbs. Again, you can choose any verb type or any combination of verb types.

- Create and save a verb list of those verbs you want to concentrate on. When you choose to use the verb list, only the verbs from that list will be used for quizzing.
