Where in the World: Capital Cities
OVERVIEW:
Where in the World is a free fun app: Capital Cities is a fun and easy way to discover the world's capital cities. Learn the location and size of all 199 world capitals from Tokyo, Japan (population 35,327,000 metro. area) to Vaiaku village, Tuvalu (population 516).
FEATURES:
• No internet connection required.
• Image driven menu system, where the user can zoom into an area and then scroll laterally.
• A dual index that can search on both Cities and Countries.
• Ability to test yourself with a fun "go find" Quiz function.
HOW TO USE:
The front screen offers a full map of the world. Press on any continent to zoom in to that part of the world. Press again to zoom in to a particular part of that continent. Press the "Capitals" button to view all the capital city markers for that region. Press on the side of the screen to travel around the map laterally. Press on any capital city marker to access the name of the capital city and the country it belongs to. Then press on the "i" icon to access population information.
INDEX:
An alphabetical list of all the capital cities is offered in the Index function. By simply selecting either the capital's name or the country's name - the application will show the user where it is located - by zooming into the appropriate region and highlighting the relevant capital city marker.
QUIZ:
This is a fun and easy testing tool - the app asks the user to zoom in and identify different capital cities on the world map. If after three attempts the user is unable to identify the location of a capital city they can ask the app to show them.
