This 1946 film is based in the years following the American civil war, in the town of Abilene which is poised on the brink of a major confrontation. The cattleman and homesteaders have physically drawn a line down the centre of the town, and have an uneasy truce between them. When a new group of homesteaders put their stakes down on the wrong side of the town, a war breaks out amongst various groups. Starring Randolph Scott, and the star to be Lloyd Bridges.
