When a pregnant Mary Logan tries to stop Spanish Vacqueros from stepping foot near her home, they push her to the ground claiming the land is theirs. Her husband then steps in the way to defend his wife and is shot in the back by Sanchez. The Cartwrights hear the gunshot and head over straight away, but they’re too late. Ben and Adam go to report the murder to the sheriff but he has already been informed by Senor Luga (Sanchez’s boss) claiming it was self defense. When the two boys disagree the sheriff tells them it is not their fight and asks why are they interfering. The boys remind him that Luga is also trying to take some of their property and the sheriff brushes the comment off and says they won’t even know its gone. Later, Sanchez spots Luga’s niece Isabella, walking with Adam, she is aware that the Cartwrights are causing them problems and Sanchez informs Luga who is less than pleased.
