When Inspector Leduque turns up in Virginia City with a warrant to arrest Ben Cartwright, his son Joe starts asking questions. As the warrant isn’t valid in Virginia the Inspector can do nothing, other than threaten to expose the truth. Ben decides to drop out of running for Governor and his two boys Adam and Joe become suspicious and know there must be more to the story then Ben is letting on. Joe pays a visit to the inspectors hotel room, where his assistant Cole pulls out a gun, Joe quickly fires in self defense, but before Joe can run the Inspector tells him that he will not defend him but instead say that Joe shot Cole in cold blood ...
