Free and fun NAMM’s “Wanna Play Music?” game app features a disc jockey’s turntable that tests players’ “musicality” – the ability to rhythmically match colored balls that drop onto a color-coded disc jockey turntable. Geared for those who say they “aren’t musical,” the NAMM app lets players “spin” the turntable as they make their color matches. Betting on proven research that anyone can play music with practice, NAMM hopes to encourage game players to take the next step to playing a real instrument.
How To Play
The object of the game is to get as many of the falling colored beats to match up with the corresponding color on the disc. The more beats you match, the higher your score is.
The game uses the iPhone’s built in accelerometer to control the turn table. As each colored beat comes down the pipe, you will need to spin the disc to the color that corresponds with that beat. Tilting your phone left or right controls the direction in which the disc spins. Additionally, you can “scratch” the disc by tapping it with your finger. This also causes the disc to slow down.
Music Store Locator & Lesson Locator
To use the Store Locator feature, choose the “Store Locator” option and simply enter your zip code.
The NAMM app also features a music store locator and a lessons search tool. Using data provided by NAMM, MTNA (Music Teachers National Association), and TakeLessons.com, these tools pull from one of the largest databases of music instructors available on the Web.
