Coming from the Middle-East, where it's know as "El Quirkat", this strategy game is the ancestor of Draughts (also named Checkers )

The game appears in literature since the 10th century and was introduced in Europe when the Moors invaded Spain. Later on, spanish settlers took the game to New Mexico.
