The Mid-Autumn Festival is on the fifteenth day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar. It is one of the most charming and colourful annual events that celebrates, among other things, harvest time with the biggest and brightest moon of the year. During the festival, people eat moon cakes and shops sell coloured Chinese paper lanterns in the shapes of animals, fruit and planes. Families go outside to high vantage points to watch the full moon and light their lanterns.
