Atkins, Zone, VLCD, BFFM... Every successful diet has one thing in common - balancing energy in vs. energy out. As a personal trainer, I’ve never seen a determined client fail to get lean. But becoming our own “Lean Me” takes hard work - hard work we don't want wasted on inefficiency.
Even if we found 80% of the Lean Me’s functionality using a handful of other apps, among other things we’d still lack the power of having those tools so tightly integrated (e.g. Changing weight⇒changes LBM⇒changes BMR estimate⇒changes energy target⇒changes remaining energy budget).
Getting fit is a personal journey and one size does not fit all. Lean Me doesn’t push any particular diet. It gives you the power and flexibility to use whichever diet works for you.
-Preloaded with >20000 common US foods, ~4000 foods at 55+ US restaurants, ~4500 common UK foods, > 610 activities
-Track body weight, circumferences, % body fat, sleep, blood sugar, blood pressure, and resting heart rate
-Track carbs, protein, fat, alcohol, sugar, sodium, cholesterol, fiber, water, and saturated fat
-Track activity energy burned, max heart rate, average heart rate, and perceived intensity (% of Heart Rate Reserve also displayed)
-Create multiple energy and macronutrient targets (ultimate diet cycling tool)
-Photo log, auto-tagged with weight, % body fat, and ab circumference
-Journal to track mood and other important notes
-Lock entire app, photo log, and/or journal for extra privacy
-7 & 30-day trailing averages of diet composition promote consistency
-Group multiple foods into "cards" (meals, dishes, etc)
-Group activities into "workouts"
-Email logs directly to a doctor, dietitian, or personal trainer, or yourself for archiving
-Metabolism calculated in real time using both Harris-Benedict and Katch-McArdle formulas
-In adaptive mode energy targets update in real time as you log activities (or use simple mode for fixed targets)
-MET values calculated for custom activities (not just the typical kcal/kJ per minute)
-Body fat calculator (both 3-site and 7-site skin fold measurements; Jackson-Pollock formulas)
-Badge shows remaining energy budget without opening the program
-Unlimited custom serving sizes per food (each food has its own list of serving sizes, not the usual standard list that makes assumptions about food density, eroding data accuracy)
-Graphs for body weight, lean body mass, and total body fat; snap to nearest log tapped, showing date, value, and both absolute and relative changes since previous log
-Timed outcome goals and complementary action (behavioral) goals
-Saves last choice of serving size and quantity for each food and card in the database, and last duration for each activity
-Sort and filter logs by meal type (e.g. see totals for all “Snacks”)
-Embedded guides for circumference and skin fold measurements
-Integrated calculators show current BMI and waist/hip ratio
-Unlimited custom food groups, meal types, and diet cycles
-Body fat estimates using YMCA and US Navy formulas
-"Learning" search algorithm adapts to actual usage history
-Display energy values in Calories or kilojoules, and measurements in Metric or US Standard
-Plan future logs and email simple shopping lists for planned days
Please don’t hesitate to email us direct feedback. We review every suggestion ever received prior to planning each new version - nothing is ever forgotten or ignored. The only professional level energy balancing application on the iPhone, our goal is not just to keep Lean Me the best available, but to make it the best possible.
