Designed by physicians for physicians and other health care providers to help you better manage your patients with vascular disease risk factors.

Coronary Heart Disease and Vascular Disease risk prediction tools are a helpful way to provide optimal patient care. However, risk algorithms produce numbers that are not always patient and physician friendly. With our tool you are provided with a graph showing patient risk compared to background population risk and optimal risk. User friendly sliders allow for rapid real time graph changes and easy data entry. This provides a useful patient teaching tool. Simply adjust the sliders to show patients how their risk profile can be improved without having to type in numbers. Use the data to decide on treatment and risk optimization.

The calculator uses Framingham Risk data as published in Circulation. We've added an optional risk box for family history. A slider for "additional risk factors" is included to help you adjust for newly understood emerging risk factors such as inflammatory disease (lupus, RA), renal disease, level of physical activity, or even hsCRP measurement. This gives you the ability to give your patient the most accurate assessment of risk based on the latest literature evidence.

We've included an RSS feed reader directly in the program. It links to theheart.org to provide you with a continuously updated information stream of the latest cardiology literature to keep you up to date and evidence based. Access to this site is free. We've found it to be one of the best sites for evidence based information that remains independent of sponsor influence.

We have tested the software in a large hospital and community based cardiac rehab program with positive feedback from physicians, nurses, kinesiologists, and most importantly patients. Patients can also use this tool to take an active role and better manage their own care. Understanding risk improves patient compliance.
