mLumbarAnatomy
INTRODUCTION
mLumbarAnatomy is a series of 3D animation movies with English voice-over, each with an image library from the movie, that introduce the complicated anatomy of the lumbar spine using easy to understand 3D anatomically accurate animated movies.
mLumbarAnatomy is designed to be used by anyone seeking an introductory understanding of their lumbar spine anatomy.
mLumbarAnatomy is part of the Lumbar Spine Library of patient education applications.
FEATURES
Receiving text descriptions or still image education about complicated three-dimensional anatomy is inefficient and often ineffective. This is especially so for newcomers to human anatomy.
mLumbarAnatomy provides an accurate, easy to understand introduction to lumbar spine anatomy. Tap on the movie’s name to play the movie. Tap on the blue circle to see the image library. Tap on the movie screen to reveal the movie scroll and audio volume control bars. Examine some sample movies on our website at www.anatomate-apps.net/LumbarSpineLibrary/mLumbarAnatomy.aspx#samples
BENEFITS
mLumbarAnatomy has the following benefits:
• more detailed education (anatomically correct with 3D orientation views) without the disadvantages of real tissues (small images, restricted position orientation, unclear structure differentiation by colour or texture, blood)
• improved treatment understanding, compliance, outcomes and satisfaction
CONTENT
The movies include
• Vertebra - illustrates the location and parts of a lumbar vertebra, and how adjacent vertebra are connected by the intervertebral disc and the facet joints. The movie also illustrates how the vertebra link together to form the vertebral canal.

• Peripheral nerves - illustrates how the cervical nerves travel to the arms, the thoracic nerves travel to the trunk, and the lumbar nerves travel to the pelvis and legs.
• Inter-vertebral Disc - illustrates the location and function of the annulus fibrosus and nucleus pulposus of the inter-vertebral discs.
• Soft Tissues - illustrates how the ligaments and capsules support the lumbar spine.
