Febrile neutropenia (FN) is a serious, sometimes life-threatening complication of cancer chemotherapy. Episodes of FN are associated with substantial morbidity, mortality, and cost as well as dose reductions and treatment delays that may compromise the delivery of full dose chemotherapy. Proper prophylaxis and a prompt, comprehensive treatment approach are essential to successful management of FN.
