Check out this app. It allows you to select any song in your music library and set a start and end point so you can hear any part of a song over and over until you figure it out.

Note: This app doesn't support DRM protected audio files.

Now your loops will play in the background!!!
Which basically means 2 things:
1. When your IOS device goes to sleep, the loop will continue to play
2. You can use other apps while a loop is playing.
