Oscilloscope! Theremin! Music! Science?
Part oscilloscope and part theremin. Part music and part science. Part instrument and part trip toy. Instead of simply displaying a waveform, Sound Scope lets you interactively sculpt sound by shaping sound waves with its unique touch interface!
Play it like an instrument, simply pinching with two fingers. You get full volume control, and the pitch spans an enormous range, from the deepest bass to an ear-piercing screech. Try for vibrato and tremolo effects with a little finger wiggle!
Use a single finger to alter the waveform. Try to draw a sawtooth shape for rich harmonics. Draw a sine wave for smooth tones. Use a square shape to create hollow, flute-like tones. Most importantly, experiment!
If you like fake pieces of wood on your screen, this isn't the app for you. If you want an app that utilizes the unique possibilities of multi-touch, that uses the entire phone screen instead of tiny buttons, then give Sound Scope a try!
Current functions in detail:
1] Pinch the long axis to change pitch
2] Pinch the short axis to change volume
3] Double tap to change display mode
4] Triple tap to disable or enable fading
5] Drag one finger anywhere to change the waveform
For fans of Ocarina, Leaf Trombone, and BeatMaker! For all you beat box maestros, drum machine coders, 303 tweakers, synth heads, and analog junkies. My personal guarantee: no beer, farts, or bikinis.
- initial waveform selector screen lets you begin with a square or sawtooth wave in addition to the previous sine wave default
