tapBass is a combined virtual bass guitar and music learning app with built in song selection and in app play back from your music library.

tapBass prints out the musical notes on a staff along with their names in real time as you play along with the track and is a great learning aid for reading music for the bass, learning the location of the notes on the fretboard and also for figuring out the bass lines to your favorite songs. It's handy for preparing for gigs, for fun or improving your bass knowledge.

This is how many bass players just 'jump in' and get started when learning bass guitar and way more fun than just memorizing the notes on the fretboard. Just start it up, suck in a track, put the headphones on and go for it. Within a few minutes you'll pretty much have the bass line figured out and learning the notes on the fretboard along with the musical notes on the staff.

We've thrown in the kick and snare drums from tapDrums in case you think you're up to some kick and snare at the same time as playing the bass. It's not too hard, give it a try! It also helps develop your understanding of the critical bass/kick relationship and how they work together in a song. Actually playing kick and bass together, as opposed to just listening to the kick/bass in a song, will really reinforce your understanding of this very important relationship.

tapBass can be used as a learning aid, rehearsal aid, inspiration tool or just for fun. It's a tool for bass players and anyone interested in learning about, or getting started with the bass whether they own a real bass or not. It's a useful music utility app, one of a number that we are currently working on specifically for musicians in mind with iphones and ipod touch devices.

Version 1.0 brings you the basic features of the app with future enhancements to come via free updates. Have fun!
