FirePin is a free real-time trip tracker. It uses the built-in GPS to track your locations as you travel. Share it with friends and family so they can see you as a moving pin in real-time on a Google map.

Excellent for road trips, and outdoor activities to let your friends and family know where you currently are.

FEATURES:

2: Trips are stored online and securely web accessible but NO registration is required, providing complete anonymity.

3: Share trips instantly from the iPhone, allowing a friend to monitor your progress in real-time

4: This app and all updates will remain free until iPhone's "push" functionality is enabled by Apple. Even then we will look after our early users.

5: Simple and non-technical. It's not a GPS navigator it is an app for recording and sharing your trip.

Remember:

ALL iPhone apps must run in the foreground. ALL iPhone tracking apps stop using GPS when you turn off your screen.

It sucks, but no location-tracking app developers can change the iPhone's behaviour in this regard.

We have solved this very simply by running FirePin in conjunction with playing music on the iPod. That way, you can turn off your screen, but the GPS keeps running as long as you are playing music. Which is nice.
