This application is designed to allow Soldiers and Family members to easily find organizations and places on Fort Gordon. With roughly 30,000 permanent party, 15,000 transient students, and thousands of visitors to Fort Gordon every year, having an app that can help those soldiers, civilians and family members find the most common locations on post. With a list of 170 different locations, in a fully searchable app, finding a place to eat or a school building has never been easier. Imagine having an appointment at Snyder Dental Clinic, but you don’t know where it is. A detailed Google search might allow you to find out it is in building 29709 … but where is that? Or, you are a US Army Reserve Soldier coming to Fort Gordon for a drill weekend and are told that the primary dining facility is in Building 25717 … where is that? Or, you are a student coming to Fort Gordon for the first time and you have a class in Walsh Hall … where is that?

With this app, scroll or search to find the clinic and then get a pinpoint of where it is on the map, then you can call them, or direct your phone to give you turn-by-turn directions. This is a full version of the app and would be well received by members of the community and visitors.

- Locations loaded from a very small XML file. Easy to add/change. Files very small. App can be extended to have multiple (if not all) military posts.
- Locations fully searchable by name or tag “Smart Search”
- Convenient search button on item list to quickly find what you want.
- Uses GPS, CELL, WIFI to determine current location
- Uses MapKit SDK to connect to Google maps and update content
- Shows items on a map that can have multiple pins so you can compare locations.
- Will give driving/walking directions to the user from current location
- If cannot locate user within 1km, will give directions from front gate
