iLert

iLert

       iOS iPhone

iLert is an easy-to-use app that uses the device’s built-in GPS functionality to make sure you don’t miss your station or stop. We’ve all sat on trains and been engrossed in a great book or even just dozed off and missed our stops and inevitably had to pay for a taxi home.

iLert can also be used if you are going to an unfamiliar station as it saves you the hassle of searching for the station signs which can often be obscure or hard to see at night.

By using GPS data the app will alert you approximately 8 minutes before your train arrives at your stop with a gentle vibrating iLert. If the first iLert doesn’t wake you it has two more that will sound at approximately 4 minutes and approximately 2 minutes.

You can even record your own sounds to be used with iLert!

How to use iLert

For best results you need to stand still at the station platform to allow iLert to use your location data as a start point.

Simply tap the iLerts tab and then tap Add Location…You can either search for your station by name or use the map to drop a pin.

Tap Done and you can choose to change the iLert sounds or use the default settings.

To get the best results from iLert it is recommended that you follow these simple steps:

When launching the app stand still so that your current location can be confirmed faster and with greater accuracy.

If you are inside a train, stand as close to a window as possible.

Head phones with music
Start playing your music, once your iPod is playing you can select the Home button to reveal the main menu and launch iLert.

Known issues:
If you see that the app is looking for your location, don't worry the app is working just fine.

NOTE

If the app seems to be taking too long to respond to your location request try turning Bluetooth off.

iLert doesn't sound alarms at the location you start it - they need to be moving for them to sound.
