Memory-Map Free
Turns your iPhone or iPad into a powerful outdoor/off-road GPS and provides access to detailed topo maps for USA and many free maps around the world.
GPS Navigation software by Memory-Map, developers of award-winning mobile GPS apps since year 2000.
+ USGS 1:24,000 and 1:100,000 topo quads for ONE STATE of your choice are included free with the app. (Smaller eastern states are grouped, so for example New England is one choice). To access your map, view the map list, tap "More maps...", select "Digital Map Shop", select the map you want, Sign In or Create a new account, and "Activate".
+ Additional USGS topo maps are $10 per state.
+ USGS 1:250,000 topo map. Full county included.
+ NOAA marine charts: small scale charts only. For detailed marine charts, get the PocketNav app.
+ Great Britain, France, Belgium and Netherlands. Small areas of detailed (1:25,000) topo map. You can activate a location of your choice in each country.
Additional Maps are available for Canada, South Africa, Mexico, and many other areas. If you have Memory-Map on your PC, get the Paid Memory-Map app to upload all the maps and charts that you currently have on your PC to your iPhone.
Software features:
+ Fast scroll and zoom, seamless maps. Maps are downloaded on demand, like the built-in Maps app. However, once downloaded, the map data is stored, and can be used for navigation when you have no phone signal.
+ Plan your trip on your desktop computer and upload GPX files to your iPhone.
+ Record your track with the iPhone, and send it as a GPX file to your desktop computer. Review where you actually went, view your speed or elevation profile, etc.
+ Auto-rotate screen, or locked the screen in your preferred orientation.
+ Screen lock to prevent accidental screen touches.
+ Shows speed and direction of travel, even while walking slowly.
+ Support for Compass sensor, where available.
+ Placename search
+ Moving map, lock GPS position and automatically scroll the map
+ Create and edit marks, which may be linked to a web URL
+ Plan routes and measure distance and bearings
+ Shows Altitude
+ Lat/Long, UTM and British National Grid coordinate systems
+ Email position marks or tracklogs as GPX files
+ This free app has all the same software features as the full version, except the ability to load maps from your PC. In this app all the maps come from our online map service.
