I’m so glad you’ve joined us.
For years, the job of ridiculing South Carolina and the actions of its leaders has been handled by less-qualified workers from out-of-state. It’s time we changed that.

I would like to introduce you to a new beacon of journalism in the palmetto state — theDiscust.com.

I know what you’re thinking… this is a horrible time to be getting into the news business, what with our state’s newspapers reporting record losses and laying off staff left and right. The difference here, though, is that we are not saddled with the expensive proposition of collecting and verifying “facts” and worrying ourselves over getting the story “right.”

We feel that our stories will not only be more entertaining than those of our colleagues in the “real” news media, but they will also lack some of the depressing qualities that actual life invariably dumps into our laps.

The “news” on this site is not entirely real. If there is, in fact, actual news on this site, then it is likely marked as such, just so you can tell the difference. Actual people parodied/mocked on theDiscust are public figures (or dead) and therefore eligible for such treatment. Any resemblance in name or otherwise to any non-public/non-dead figure within the editorial content of this site is purely coincidental, unintentional, or you told us it would be ok. No public servants were harmed in the writing of this publication — that happened long before we came along.
