BetterPix - Flash & Sharpen

BetterPix - Flash & Sharpen

       iOS iPhone

Are your iPhone photos often blurry with low contrast?

Do your pictures have less snap than you were hoping for?

Having the iPhone camera always available is great. However the pictures can be poor because the iPhone camera has a fixed-focus lens and does not have a flash. This results in soft images with low contrast in the mid-tones.

BetterPix can fix these problems and make your iPhone photos look better.

BetterPix helps to improve your iPhone photos after you have taken them with two sophisticated software approaches that help compensate for the deficiencies of the iPhone camera. You can apply either or both of these methods to any picture in your camera roll or photo album.

* The focus method improves image sharpness without introducing the harsh pixelation of simple sharpening filters.

* The fill flash method improves exposure and contrast in backlit situations and when outdoor subjects are in partial shadow. It will add light to underexposed areas without blowing out the highlights or muddying the shadows. Whites stay white, and blacks stay black.

* Unlike many other iPhone photo processing apps, BetterPix processes and saves FULL RESOLUTION images both on the iPhone 3G and 3GS! Most other apps reduce the image to one-quarter size, vastly decreasing the quality and usefulness of the image. BetterPix keeps every precious pixel that the iPhone camera captures.

* BetterPix supports both portrait and landscape modes, as well as zoom, pinch, and pan viewing of the preview image. For speed, the preview image is processed at a smaller size. The full image is processed before saving.

* BetterPix has built-in help. Just tap the circular 'i' button.

BetterPix is intended to help make many of your iPhone photos look better and have more impact. It is not intended to allow you to take pictures in the dark. BetterPix will run fine on an iPod touch, however, you'll have to import pictures using iTunes since there is no built-in camera.

BetterPix has user-adjustable focus and fill-flash. The first image shown is a screenshot interface.

Please take a look at the example images. These are actual photos taken with the iPhone camera before and after processing with BetterPix.

Note: Please restart your iPhone after installing BetterPix. If you are having problems with BetterPix after first installing it, please try restarting your iPhone. As with all iPhone apps, this maximizes the amount of memory available to the running application. Many iPhone apps require this restart after they are first installed.

What's new

* Increased range of control for flash.
* Four sharpening modes: green, red, blue color channel selective and unsharp mask.
* Automatic white balance correction to help fix images with unpleasant color balance.

* Performance optimizations.
* Updated for iPhone OS 3.2+
