Exif Wizard-Pro
***For iOS 5 only! Here's a native-resolution Exif app for your iPad, that may also be used with your iPhone or iPod Touch. It works great with photos you have taken with your mobile device's camera, saved from the Web or e-mail, synced to your device using the latest version of iTunes, imported to your iPad using the Camera Connection Kit, or uploaded to Photo Stream.
Upload your photos, complete with Exif data, to a server using FTP (passive mode only, which virtually every server system built or updated in the last few years will support). Scroll through albums using left and right "swipe" gestures on preview images. ...And recover the filenames of images imported to your iPad using the Camera Connection Kit as they existed on your stand-alone digital camera.
Want to check out the concept before you spend any money? No problem--just download the free version of Exif Wizard, and run it on your iPad in scaled mode. Although the free version does not take advantage of your iPad's big display and, thus, presents photos and Exif data differently than the pro version, you'll still get the idea.
*** If Exif Wizard-Pro is not displaying GPS/mapping information for photos you have taken with your iOS mobile device, it may be because you did not enable geotagging when you first used the built-in Camera app. To grant permission now, from your home screen, touch Settings -> General (if necessary) -> Location Services. Make sure the "Location Services" switch at the top of the screen is ON, then scroll down and turn on the switch next to "Camera." Keep in mind that if you enable geotagging, people you transmit your photos to may be able to determine the locations where those photos were taken using any number of mobile and desktop Exif applications.
FTP security: Exif Wizard-Pro sends FTP data (including your password) unencrypted and, if you choose to store your password, saves it on your mobile device unencrypted. Therefore, you should NOT enter your main server password into Exif Wizard-Pro. If you have not done so already, set up an FTP account with limited access permissions. Consult your sources of technical support for further information.
Expectations Management: The process of importing photos from your desktop, laptop, or stand-alone digital camera to your mobile device is controlled by Apple. There is nothing Exif Wizard-Pro can do to change the fact that photos are ordered by date. While, in iOS 5, it is possible to view filenames of images as they existed on your stand-alone digital camera if they were loaded onto your iPad using the Camera Connection Kit, there is still no way to access any filenames your individual photos may have had on your desktop or laptop. Thank you for your understanding.
Notes: Some image editing programs remove Exif data from photos. E-mailed and Web photos can be stored on your Camera Roll with Exif information by touching and holding the photo, and then touching "Save Image" on the action sheet which will appear. Exif data is retained in photos uploaded using the Camera Connection Kit. Exif Wizard-Pro may not be able to read Exif data from raw files, unless they have been synced to your device with iTunes. Please consider shooting RAW+JPEG.
You must give Exif Wizard-Pro permission to "Use Your Current Location," even though Exif Wizard-Pro does not activate the auto-location functionality on your mobile device. This is an Apple requirement for apps which access your photos. Remember, your photos may be geotagged, and, in theory, could reveal your location. If you declined when prompted, close Exif Wizard-Pro and, from your home screen, touch Settings -> General (if necessary) -> Location Services. Make sure Location Services are "ON." Then scroll down until you find the switch for Exif Wizard-Pro and turn it "ON." Close out of Settings after performing the preceding steps, reopen Exif Wizard-Pro, and it should work.
