This app is something. Its so nice now to zoom in on an object and look at the picture you have zoomed in on and be able to see it clear. I tested it on type on my monitor's screen..awesome,clear as a bell.

Instructions:

On the live-view:
- pinch to zoom in or out to compose your picture.
- double-tap to zoom to 4x or back.
- single-tap to focus on the 3GS (at all zoom levels).

On the preview view:
- photo is sharpened compared to the live view.
- standard scroll/zoom behaviour to preview photo.
- background save or discard to go back to live view.
- photo is saved at full resolution e.g. 1536x2048 on 3GS.

Hints & Tips:
- You pinch the live preview to zoom! The 1x dial just indicates your zoom level.
- when the red LED is blinking DO NOT EXIT or your photo won't be saved
- when the red LED stops blinking it is safe to exit the app
- if you see a 'memory low' warning, wait before taking more pictures
- if you get a memory warning for every picture, consider restarting your iPhone to free memory
- Zoom Lens will not zoom videos on the 3GS - the Apple APIs don't support it.
- Zoom Lens will not save EXIF data to the photo in the camera roll - the Apple APIs don't support it.
- A digital zoom is not an optical zoom. Zoom Lens is the highest quality zoom app available but no app can create data that doesn't exist in the original pixels. All cameras will give good results at up to 4x zoom. A 3MP camera (e.g. iPhone 3GS) is needed for best results up to 8x zoom.

This app requires a camera and iPhone OS 3.1 or greater. It will not work on OS 3.0.1 or below due to restrictions in the Apple APIs. It currently works with all generations of iPhone. Zoom Lens only uses official Apple APIs so will not be broken by any future versions of iPhone OS.
