DocViewer is a document viewing program for the iPhone and iPod touch.
It utilizes wireless FTP to transfer files from a specified folder on a personal computer to an iPhone or iPod touch over your Wi-Fi network.
In addition, DocViewer can download files to the iPhone or iPod touch, from remote FTP servers, by simply entering the name, password, and FTP URL address for the server into DocViewer's settings. By setting up an FTP server on one's personal computer, personal files can also be accessed and downloaded remotely over the internet.
Detailed instructions to configure FTP for Windows Vista (Business, Enterprise, & Ultimate versions), Windows XP Professional, and Mac OS X (version 10.5 Leopard & 10.4 Tiger) are provided on the DocViewer website. Links to these support pages are also provided in DocViewer and open in the Safari web browser on the iPhone and iPod Touch.
Supported document types include PDF documents (.pdf), Microsoft Word (.doc & .docx), plain text files (.txt), Microsoft Excel (.xls & .xlsx), Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt & .pptx), and image files (.jpg, .jpeg, .tif, .tiff, .gif, .bmp, & .png). Additional file types supported in iPhone OS 3.0 include rich text format (.rtf) and iWork '09 files (.pages, .key, & .numbers).
Landscape mode as well as zooming and panning is supported for viewing all document types.
A scroll bar feature facilitates viewing of long documents.
Add folders to organize your files.
Enter a login password to protect DocViewer and your files.
REQUIREMENTS include iPhone 2.2.1 software or later (including iPhone OS 3.0 or later), Wi-Fi connection, and FTP connection.
What's new
Addresses several software bugs and other issues. Quick delete of files and folders on Files page. Available disk space for adding files to DocViewer now appears on the About screen.
