Alimony Calculator
This calculator both educates and assists the public in the calculation of alimony. Because the calculation of alimony can be difficult and fact-specific we suggest that you consult with an attorney when using this calculator. Whether you are a lay person or an attorney, please do not hesitate to call Attorney Justin Kelsey at (508) 655-5980 to discuss the correct use of the calculator. The Divorce Spousal Support Calculator is also available at AlimonyFormula.com.
When using the calculator please keep in mind the following:
* The formulas presented below assume no child support and insufficient assets for an alimony buy-out.
* These formulas are provided as guidelines and should not be substituted for critical analysis of the facts of each individual case by qualified counsel.
* There is not currently any formula enacted or endorsed by the Massachusetts Legislature.
* The amount of alimony is dependent on the consideration of many factors (as described in M.G.L. c. 208 Section 34).
* Nevertheless, these formulas have proven to be a valuable resource in helping parties understand a reasonable potential range of spousal support orders.
* The sources for each formula are referenced in the accompanying article which can be accessed at http://www.kelseytrask.com/Docs/SpousalSupport.pdf, available within the app.
