FAQ

Q: When I open this app, I always want to start a new search. However, the last screen when I closed the app appears again.
A: Open Settings App, choose "Dictionary⁺", then turn "New search on startup" switch on.

Q: I want to start a new search after reading the definition. However, I cannot be bothered to tap × button in the search box.
A: Open Settings App, choose "Dictionary⁺", then turn "New search when Done" switch on.

Q: The app displays definitions in Japanese. I want to read definitions in English.
A: Tap "Book" button at the bottom of the screen, then choose "English". If the "Book" button is hidden behind the keyboard, simply scroll the screen.

Q: This dictionary does not contain enough definitions for my needs.
A: This app does not provide any dictionary data. Please ask the licensee of the dictionary data about its contents.

Q: Do you have any plans to include languages other than English and Japanese?
A: This app does not provide any dictionary data. Please ask the licensee of the dictionary data about its contents.

Q: I want to copy and paste the contents of a definition page.
A: To respect the copyright law, we will not add this function.

Q: I cannot install this app (the app icon will not appear on the home screen.)
A: You need to upgrade your device (for free). Connect it to your computer and follow the iTunes' instruction. (Your device must be compatible with iOS 5.)

Q: I want to move History data from Dictionary app.
A: In Dictionary app, tap "History…" at the bottom of the History listings and choose Copy. Then, open Dictionary⁺ and follow the instruction.

Q: I don't understand what the function of exporting History data is for?
A: Please use it to make your own word list you looked up. In Evernote, the imported word list includes checkboxes. In FastFinga, checkboxes will be added to pasted history data.

Q: The screen will not proceed from the startup screen.
A: When you deleted this app and re-installed, the process to retrieve data from iCloud may fail. Push the Home button then open this app again.

Q: Why there are two apps Dictionary and Dictionary⁺?
A: We give users the choice between two apps instead of upgrading the original app. They are both free. Don't hesitate to try both.
