No nation can think of its future with a sense of optimism without the upbringing of its children on healthy, dynamic and value-oriented lines. Indeed, children are a trust of tomorrow and the trustees are supposed to do their job with utmost care, efficiency and scrupulous thinking. And this speaks of the vital importance of producing useful and meaningful literature for children to ensure their balanced and integrated growth.
The West is churning out a lot of literature for children, yet it is shorn of God and divine guidance. As a result a self-alienated generation has appeared on the scene, which is spiritually blind to the deeper meaning of life and also psychologically irrelevant to society at large. One may term this situation as a spiritual vulgarity which marks the ethos of modern era. Whereas Islam takes the entire humanity as a single family and denies any dichotomy between worldly and religious pursuits. This gives Islam a non-racial and extraterritorial character.
The primary aim of education is to produce honest, intelligent and responsible citizens and, in view of the universal message of Islam, Islamic education is best suited for this purpose. Moreover, there is a dire
need to revarnp the islamic psyche of our children so hat their cultural roots may not (fry up against an inhospitable milieu, particularly in the West. The Leicester-based Islamic Foundation has embarked upon the gigantic task of preserving the Islamic identity of the younger generation by bringing out such books as deal with islamic teachings and the fundamentals of Islam.
