Want to watch the international space station or hubble space telescope fly over? It's easy with space junk!
space junk is the lite version of star3map, an augmented
reality satellite, planet, star, and constellation charting application for iOS. When space junk starts up, it uses
location services to determine your global position.
With that information, and the current time, it will display
a view of the current positions of satellites, stars, planets, and constellations around you.
space junk uses the accelerometer and compass (if available) to determine exactly what your iphone is pointed at, so you just point your phone in any direction (even down!, even from inside!), and get a labeled view of what is out in space in that direction.
Like star3map, also supports:
- object tagging and Facebook integration to post what you saw
- NTP for accurate time (critical for satellite flyovers)
- automatically downloads fresh satellite data from the internet
- night viewing mode
- sky and globe viewing modes
- satellite flyover paths for the next 15 minutes
- daylight/dark indicator with bands to indicate best satellite viewing time
