The BreadCast

Two podcasts from two books: Our Daily Bread: Exposition of the Readings of Catholic Mass and Prayers to the Saints, both with imprimatur from Archbishop John Myers of Newark, NJ. The SaintsCast covers all the saints on the General Roman Calendar, along with those particular to the US. The BreadCast covers all the Masses of the liturgical calendar (all Sundays, weekdays, Solemnities & Feasts). Each one opens with a chant; Sundays and Feasts feature music.

In the BreadCast the author allows the Scripture readings to speak for themselves, evident in his extensive quoting and paraphrasing, but especially in his taking as guiding principle the Lord’s instruction not to consider beforehand what to say when brought to bear witness to Him. He has let the Spirit direct him – writing without revision, trusting entirely in the Lord – so the message and tone reflect that of the readings themselves. The prayers in the SaintsCast try to capture the essential charism of each saint.
