Buddy

If you like WhosHere, Twitter, Facebook or Brightkite - you're gonna LOVE Buddy!

Buddy is a new social networking application (and website at http://buddy.com) that lets you meet and connect with people near you! With Buddy, you can search for a "Golfing Buddy", a "Dating Buddy", a "Jogging Buddy", or just "Any Buddy". Search by age, gender, interests and more!

Once you've found your Buddy, message them (no SMS fees!) or send them a virtual gift - a drink, a birthday cake, a rose, or choose from our virtual gift marketplace. Gifts are free to send and free to receive - but lots of fun, and send a more impactful message than just text.

Buddy enables people the world over to find other people who share common interests, a common location, and a sense of immediacy. Unlike most social networks available today that only match people based on interests, Buddy adds two further degrees of control - location and time. With Buddy you can find people who share a common interest with you, who are near you, and who share that interest right now.

So how does it work? Well, the Buddy application connects to our server "in the cloud" and performs matching of Buddies the world over. Visit http://www.buddy.com to see a real-time map of the "Buddy Universe" and who/where all the Buddies in the world currently are.

What's new

This version of Buddy added the following features & fixes:

* Incoming friend requests appear as an indicator on the toolbar
* Fixed a bug where (null) kept showing as a username
* Fixed a bug where some tables were not properly building
* Fixed a bug where default gender icons were incorrectly showing
* Fixed a bug where location information was loading incorrectly
* Re-added the ability to resize/crop pictures
* Added hi-res artwork to support Apple's "Retina Display"
* Fixed a slew of fit'n'finish issues

We're preparing for our next release which will be v2.0 - where Buddy becomes a platform. You too can build your apps and games using the Buddy platform and access the huge database of Buddy users already using Buddy! For more details, contact dave@buddy.com.
