Georgetown Hoyas All-Access

Georgetown competes in Division I intercollegiate athletics with 29 varsity teams. We are a founding member of the Big East Conference and an associate member of the Patriot League.
More than 800 student-athletes compete in varsity sports at Georgetown. Most varsity teams train and compete at McDonough Arena, North Kehoe Field and Multi-Sport Field on campus. The men’s basketball team plays home games at the Verizon Center in downtown Washington, D.C.
Georgetown student-athletes strive for success in the classroom and in competition, balancing the demands of rigorous academics and Division I athletics. Coaches and athletics department staff help students develop their fullest potential and discover their leadership skills as individuals and teammates.
Student-athletes represent the Georgetown community with pride on the local and national stage, and Georgetown athletics inspires and unites the campus community, bringing together students, faculty, staff and alumni.
The athletic nickname is the Hoyas and the mascot is an English Bulldog named Jack. Both the costumed mascot and the live mascot make appearances at athletic contests and around campus. Students cheer Hoya Saxa as a rallying cry which is Latin for “What Rocks”.
