iStatman Soccer Eval

SMSoccerEval is a tool developed and used by a soccer coach that can be used to objectively rank players on a soccer team. Determining the best players on a soccer team, like most team sports, is subjective by nature. If you are a coach trying to identify the best players at a tryout or those that should be getting the most playing time, or if you are a fan wanting to rank the players on your favorite team according to your own scale, or even if you are a player vying to earn a spot on a team and looking for areas that you measure well against other players and areas that you may want to improve in, this app is for you.
To rank players an editable weighting system is used. For example, one of the preset categories that ships with the app is “Stamina” which may be considered a valuable trait to have as a player so it receives a fairly high default weight of “25”. The user then rates the players on their team, typically on a scale from one to ten. The user has the ability to remove any existing weighted categories, modify their weights, or add additional categories that were not shipped with the app. The application keeps a running, sorted total, so the user can instantly see at any time how the players on their team rate with all the weighted categories added together.
To further increase the validity of the player evaluations, a user may decide to organize players by their positions on the field, so that defenders, forwards keepers, etc. can be evaluated against other players at their position with categories that are most specific to their need.
Even though this application was written with soccer in mind, there is nothing that would preclude using it for any other team sport where a certain amount of objectivity is desired in an otherwise subjective environment.

- Dynamic sorting of players in each weighted category
- Sorted totals for all players in a team (group)
- Ability to take notes, justifying players ratings in each category
- Ability to mail rankings to any person in your address book
- Categories can be added to include anything a user may desire
- Negative values can be used to rate players in non-desirable categories like “Likelihood of giving up PK”
