In Ping Pong it's common to see a player drop two balls on the table, then select the ball that bounces higher as the better one for play. The ball that bounces higher will travel a greater distance when hit. The PingPongBall application allows you to measure the bounce of a ball with high accuracy and indicates whether it falls within the ITTF specifications for ping-pong balls.

Simply drop the ball so that your iPhone or iPod Touch can "hear" the ball bounce three times. PingPongBall calculates and displays the bounce height based on the ITTF specification and a drop height of 30 cm. If the ball is dropped from a height other than 30 cm, the bounce height calculation will be corrected as though the ball was dropped from 30 cm. The display will show the bounce height in cm and indicate the bounce as "Good" if it falls within the range of 21.0 cm and 25.0 cm.
