What is Play Nassau?

The Nassau gets its name from the Nassau Country Club on Long Island, where the format was invented in the early 1900s. The game also is known as "2-2-2", and "Best Nines."

With one point awarded for winning each side (front nine, back nine) and for winning "all 18", the Nassau is essentially three separate games. In basic Nassau, the player or team winning all three games would win 3 points.

This iPhone App (Play Nassau) follows pretty much the same format as described above.

. 1 Game Point for the front nine
. 1 Game Point for the back nine
. 1 Game Point for all 18

This App also allows for players to "Press" at anytime in the competition (this gives the players the flexibility to set the actual Press either one down, two down, etc.) except while on the 9th and 18th holes. Each Press starts another concurrent game from the point of the Press. So, if a player decides to Press starting on hole #3, then a second game (just for the front nine) starts on hole #3 and ends on hole #9 with its own new set of scores.

At anytime, you can touch the "Tally" tab bar (menu at bottom) option to see the current results as of the hole # you touched the "Tally" option. Calculations for the back nine and the overall 18 results will occur once you have reached past hole #9 and hole #18, respectively.

A game point is awarded to each player/team that wins the most holes for that game. The game point awarded for the "all 18" game is based on holes #1 to holes #18 - no Presses are involved.

The goal is to win the most Game Points in the entire 18 hole competition.
