Get your kicks on “Road Trip 66". This is a GPS-based travel app that takes you on the open road on America’s original “super-highway”. Featuring almost 1,400 sights — diners and cafes, cool old neon signs, Mom-n-Pop motels, homemade attractions, relics of days gone by, and many more classic examples of pure Americana.

Today, Route 66 is no longer a single road — sadly time and interstates have re-routed it and by-passed the original multiple times. "Road Trip 66" takes you along the various routes it once followed, with landmarks and bits of trivia all along the way. Zoom in the maps and see the various alignments. Perfect for anyone who loves to get in the car and explore!

You won’t find the “typical” spots found on most travel apps - no run-of-the-mill fast food joints (unless they have a UFO or giant being on the building). Any app can give you a phonebook listing of what’s nearby. Road Trip 66 gives you the hand-picked offbeat attractions that make taking the back roads a lot more fun!

Let “Road Trip 66” be your guide along the Mother Road through the following states:

Illinois - Start here...well, traditionalists prefer you do. From Lou Mitchell's classic Chicagoland diner to the Chain of Rocks bridge over the Mississippi, Illinois 66 is a great way to begin your journey.

Missouri - St. Louis's crazy quilt of alternate 66 routes, each with it's own charms, soon opens to the lush Missouri countryside of rolling hills and great relics of the past.

Kansas - Shortest state section (only 13.2 miles) with a lot more to see than you think, including the inspiration for Tow Mater from "Cars" and the iconic Rainbow Bridge

Oklahoma - The longest stretch of Route 66 (396 miles) with quite a few sections of the original Portland concrete paved (and narrow) road, plus a giant blue whale!

Texas - From the Texas panhandle on to California, you’re heading due west. Classic road architecture, Cadillac Ranch and a great big sky await you.

New Mexico - Here the Route gets varied...flatlands to the 9-mile Climb, arroyos and mesas. Sunsets are stunning, and Albuquerque is full of great old neon motel signs.

Arizona - An incredibly scenic portion of 66-- with the Petrified Forest, nearby Grand Canyon, the Meteor Crater, remote desert relics as well as begging burros.

California - Ya gotta go through the Mojave Desert--many still chose to travel it at night for the cooler temps and brilliant Milky Way. The final stretch rewards you with a stay in a concrete Wigwam and the Santa Monica Pier.

Zoom in, touch the color-coded icon and find out more about whatever tickles your fancy. Not interested in foraging for food? You can also customize the screen to show only the categories you are interested in finding.

Just pinch to navigate the map, swipe to scroll through the listings, slide to pick categories, flick to see more photos. Tap any point to get more detail.

Maps? Listings? Attractions? Choose your way to search through the tons of geo-coded points of interest (POIs). Every listing is text-searchable, or you can pick a location and see what is around. Street addresses and one-touch phone numbers.
