Ground Speed Calculator
This application is geared towards the GA pilot. Often, the GA pilot will have to calculate their ground speed using a stop watch and a manual flight computer. While this method is tried and true, it is another thing that you have to bring along with you on your flight.
With Ground Speed Calculator, you get a built in timer, distance input and manual time entry if you desire. This allows you to do accurate ground speed calculations all from your iPhone.
It starts with the distance you want to measure. Say 6 NM is entered, you want to know how long it takes you to go 6 NM and what your ground speed is. Enter 6 NM on the picker wheel and start the timer when you are over your starting position. When you stop the timer, the ground speed is calculated. If you make a mistake, you can flip to the other side and enter time manually.
This application includes ground speed calculations in:
KPH
MPH
KT
You may also select the input distance units after the timer has stopped. To change from 6 NM to 6 KM distance travelled, just select the units in the picker wheel and the calculations will be updated.
