Together with IBM, the city set up the Center that using sophisticated statistical analysis is able to examine the movement of weather systems and variable water flow rates on diferent surfaces around the city. This data helps Rio to better predict where disaster might strike, allowing emergency services agencies to fully coordinate a planned response. By using smarter data, a city of 11 million is better prepared for the problems caused by urban growth and, especially, to organize large events that opens its doors to the world.
