AccuWeather.com School Closing Outlook iPhone Application ™ forecasts the weather that influences the chances of school cancellations in your area for all locations in the U.S. While no one can predict the choices of your local school board, we will give you a full view of the weather impacting those choices, including a the most accurate 5-day forecasts, detailed current conditions, and of course the unique AccuWeather.com School Closing Outlook forecast in a colorful and fun interface.
To make its forecasts, School Closing Outlook takes into account a variety of types of winter weather events that may play a role in the decision whether or not to cancel school, including snow, ice, and extreme cold. It considers not only the actual weather, but its likely impact on road and travel conditions. It also takes into account local climatology – an inch of snow in northern Florida may lead to school cancellation, while it would likely take a much greater snow accumulation to cancel school in the Great Lakes snow belts.
The School Closing Outlook isn’t intended as a replacement for official school closing and delay notices, which come directly from the school district. Remember: It’s important to always do your homework and be ready for school the next day.
